Fixing Woodmere Avenue Width Restriction

I promised to secure change to the infamous Woodmere Avenue width restriction after being elected in 2019 and was delighted when changes to widen the kerb-to-kerb width and to adjust the bollards were made in August 2022.

In addition, Herts County Council will continue to work on introducing ANPR cameras following the legislation that was passed giving local authorities powers from part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004. This is scheduled to come into force later this year, subject to a public consultation.

I am really pleased that we have finally seen some positive action around the width restriction as I know that this has been an issue for those living on the street, and surrounding streets for many, many years.

I have long supported having ANPR cameras. I raised this in Parliament back in March 2021 as I spoke about the need to reform traffic legislation to allow the rules that apply in London, to also be available to other areas.
