Dean Russell MP visited the HIVE Heritage Centre in Abbots Langley to mark the 150th anniversary celebration of the opening of the Leavesden Asylum/Hospitals (8th October 1870.)
Having been invited by Martin T Brooks, Founder of the Leavesden Hospital History Association, Dean was given a tour of the grounds and a lesson on the history and heritage of the staff devoted to the care of those with mental health and learning disabilities in the past. He was shown the evolution of mental health and learning disability treatment through the years and many of the artefacts, memorabilia and stories from those who work worked there and devoted their time to improving the lives of others.
