Dean Russell gave a lecture today at the the University of Birmingham for the Institute of Local Government Studies (INLOGOV) - Total Leadership Development Programme.
In his lecture Dean spoke about agility, innovation, creativity and service redesign in local government to senior leaders in the sector. In particular, how local government can learn from entrepreneurial approaches to leadership, communications and digital transformation.
Dean added:
"Local Government is a crucial part of delivering services and democracy to people across the UK. It was a pleasure to meet with the next generation of potential leaders and excited to discuss lessons from business and beyond with the group.
I genuinely believe technology will reshape Local Government as we head into the future, but any change needs to be carefully thought out and planned for the long-term. We must always ensure the public and their needs are at the forefront of thinking when designing services to ensure the best possible experience is delivered, and to ensure people who are not digitally active are not left behind."
