A Message From Dean Russell MP
Thank you for visiting my website. I am proud to be the Member of Parliament for Watford and I am passionate about our community. Throughout the pandemic, I have been tirelessly working to help constituents and local businesses navigate
these difficult times and it helps that I am from a working-class background, as I like nothing more than rolling up my sleeves to get the job done!
I have been working hard to deliver for Watford during the pandemic. From tackling homelessness to supporting local jobs, successfully lobbying for funding for Watford General and across our community, through to launching my mental health first aid scheme. You will find a snapshot of my work for Watford across this website. I am clear that none of these achievements would be possible without the support of our
amazing local community, which I am incredibly grateful for.
Throughout the year I have been an active volunteer, so please do contact me
if you feel I could support at any events or meetings; I will always attend if possible.

Dean was pleased to attend the recent Ramadan football tournament at the Watford Football Club training ground. The event was organised with Watford FC in partnership with One Vision, Watford Council, Herts Sports Partnership, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Hertfordshire FA.
Dean would like to thank everyone involved including all the players at the event, and congratulate AMYA for winning the tournament.

Events, Visits and Tours
During lockdown Dean has attended hundreds of virtual visits. With lockdown easing, Dean will be resuming physical visits from the Summer, COVID rules permitting.
Once available Dean will also resume Parliamentary tours and school debates from the Palace of Westminster.

NHS and Social Care COVID Memorial
As announced in the Sunday Express last year, Dean is the chair of the memorial to remember the bravery of front-line NHS and care workers in the fight against Covid.
The memorial has received Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock’s backing, and sculptor has begun the carving process.
The 13ft bronze sculpture will honour all NHS and social care heroes who died in the battle against Covid. It will have every one of their names etched into the stone plinth which the sculpture will stand on.

Be A Mental Health First Aider
I am delighted to announce that we have officially launched our Watford mental health first aid project.
Dean has collaborated with Watford & West Herts Chamber of Commerce with other local community groups including Wellspring Church and has been funded with the support Camelot we aim to help train 1000 mental health first aiders in Watford.
Dean was proud to host the Prime Minister in Watford launch this initiative in Watford.

DEAN'S MISSION IMPOSSIBLE
During the first lockdown Dean was asked to help the Mission Impossible movie producers ensure filming could continue at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden. Dean successfully organised for Tom Cruise to virtually meet with the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to share the importance of keeping the movie industry filming to the UK economy.
Dean's intervention led to specific film and production industry rules during COVID which countries around the world soon followed. His actions subsequently meant the global film industry could continue to make movies and TV shows safely - saving jobs in Watford and around the World.
In Parliament: Committees and All-Party Parliamentary Groups
Dean is a member of the Health and Social Care Select Committee, the Joint Committee on Human Rights and the Speaker's Advisory Committee on Works of Art. Dean is also a Chair, Co-&-Vice Chair and Member of several All-Party Parliamentary Groups covering topics including Mental Health, Digital Health and the Film and Production Industry.
Small Business Ambassador
Dean has been appointed as a regional Small Business Ambassador.
The scheme was unveiled to mark Small Business Saturday in 2020 to enable MPs to be a voice to enterprises and help shape crucial government policy.
Dean is one of twelve Members of Parliament hand-picked to represent Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and every English region. The team is designed to bring a wide range of experience and represents every region, reinforcing the commitment to level up across the country.
Dean wants to hear from small businesses across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex to join roundtables and engage to inform government policy.
Did You Know?
Along with representing Watford in Westminster, an important part of the role of an MP is constituency casework. Since being elected, your hardworking Member of Parliament for Watford, Dean and his team have completed over 11,000 casework requests from constituents, families and businesses.

Did You Know?
Dean is passionate about local engagement and community including ensuring we support local press and radio. When the daily COVID briefings began at the start of the first lockdown. It was Dean Russell MP that successfully requested for regional journalists and press to be given opportunities to ask questions. Shortly afterwards the general public were also able to ask questions directly to the Prime Minister and advisors daily, ensuring local voices were represented across the country.
